Modern Country Home

Samford Valley

Set on acreage, this 1980s red brick home carried the distinctive charm of its era—complete with indoor planters, sweeping curved walls, and classic brick archways. The brief was to reimagine the property as a robust forever home for a South African family ready to put down roots in Australia. The redesign honours the home’s 1970s architectural spirit while infusing it with a modern farmhouse aesthetic, creating an interior that feels both grounded and timeless.

The interior palette strikes a careful balance between heritage and modernity. Black accents enhance the warmth of the red brick and natural timber ceilings, while white subway tiles and crisp benchtops introduce freshness and light.

A focal point of the kitchen, the existing fireplace was rendered and restyled with a custom oak mantel. Oversized pendant lighting accentuates the high ceilings, and the kitchen hearth provides a natural spot for casual dining at the island bench—bringing warmth and connection to the heart of the home.

The result is a modern farmhouse interior that celebrates texture, form, and family living—anchored in the character of its original architecture yet refined for contemporary life.
